Lakehead Ironworks is looking for a Forklift Operator / Yard Labourer

Position Overview:
Forklift operators are an essential position to ensure prompt and cost effective service to our customers.
Job Types:  Full-time, Permanent
Wage:  $18.00 to $24.00/hour (based on relevant experience)
Benefits:  Dental Care, Extended Health Care, RRSP Match
Schedule:  10 Hour Shift
Supplemental Pay:  Bonus Pay
Experience:  1 year (Preferred)
Language:  English (Required)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Loading/unloading delivery vehicles by forklift
• Transporting material to shop for fabrication in a timely manner
• Order picking
• Stacking and organizing material
• Counting and maintaining material inventory
• Safety checks of gear and equipment
• Keeping yard clean and organized
• Deliver material and gear to customer or project sites
• Operate and maintain equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
• Ensure that OHSA’s safe work practices and regulations, housekeeping rules, guidelines, and quality standards are followed.
• Ensure personal career development with attendance at appropriate educational courses and training organizations
• Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

• Valid driver’s licence is required
• Heavy equipment experience is an asset
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift 20-50 lbs frequently
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs occasionally
• Use of hands and feet to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, controls, press buttons, levers and pedals
• Bending, twisting and reaching
• Wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, gloves and any other protective equipment deemed necessary.
• Work outdoors in non-controlled environmental conditions
• Work in hot conditions or cold temperatures
• Exposure to sounds and noise levels that can be distracting or uncomfortable
• Working with heavy equipment
• Work with others in a group or team
• Call-ins may be required.
• Overtime may be required.
• Travel may be required.
